Arnold Clark is one of the largest car dealer groups in Europe, originally opening in Glasgow, back in 1954. In a new green-energy initiative, Arnold Clark have set ambitious targets for sales of electric vehicles in the coming years. As part of this initiative, they have opened an Innovation Centre for people to visit and discover more.
I was tasked with creating a bespoke interface for large scale touch screens located within the Innovation Centre, with the intent to autonomously provide information to visitors. Working closely with the Arnold Clark team, I rapidly prototyped engaging visual solutions to bring a digital interface to the centre, presenting a set scope of content and functionality in a short time frame.
Improvise & adapt
With a tight timeline, using a brand new, untested interface, in a then half-constructed building, there were many unknowns. Without immediate access to the screens themselves, I set up a temporary lo-fi paper mockup on the studio wall to get a feel for the scale, since best practise didn’t apply.

Nurturing engagement
I was briefed to create a unique, engaging interface for users to browse and ultimately explore the range of vehicles on offer. Working closely with developers, we created a bespoke platform that feels special, laced with subtle motion effects. The goal was to entice passing visitors to interact.
Interactive elements
One suggested feature was some kind of interactive quiz that would present one EV type as a perfect match for the user. I developed this to function as a multiple choice chatbot type interface, with a smooth transition into a library of all vehicles currently available on-site.
